This beautiful colonial-era building is among the most typical in Salta, it is one of the oldest buildings in the city and the only one of its kind in the country.
Its imposing carob door, hand-carved by the natives in 1762, is a representative symbol of this site.
Its construction dates back to 1586, it was not until 1726 that it was enabled as a “San Andrés” hospital and later this facility became part of the “Las Carmelitas” cloistered nun convent.
Like other emblematic buildings in the city, the convent was declared a National Historic Monument on July 14, 1941.

One of the iconic churches of the city, located in the heart of downtown and a few meters from the main square.
The current basilica dates back to the 18th century, it was built by Fray Vicente Muñoz and later embellished by the refined architect Luis Giorgi. Its Italianate style and its terracotta, ivory and white colors make it a true architectural treasure of the city.

At the end of Paseo Güemes and at the foot of San Bernardo Hill is the Monument to the gaucho Martín Miguel de Güemes, one of the undisputed heroes of Salta.
It was inaugurated in 1931 and has the particularity of having been built with rocks extracted from San Bernardo Hill.
Every June 17, the city honors the gaucho hero with parades where various forts participate. The celebration highlights the “Guard under the stars” on the eve of the 17th, where the gauchos gather at the foot of the monument in the traditional bonfires and guitars.

The Monument to the Victory of Salta or the Monument to February 20, arose after the decision of the General Assembly to build a monument in honor of the memorable Battle of Salta and the important victory in defense of the principles of independence.
One hundred years passed until the result of the beautiful work could be seen, which was born from a brick monument, a wooden cross and the donation of four blocks located in the Campo de la Cruz. The prolongation of the war and civil conflicts delayed the execution.

9

We will visit the Quebrada de San Lorenzo where we are welcomed by the splendor of the Selva Montana, whose beauty has been perpetuated in songs and immortalized in poems. In Argentina there are only 250 kilometers of this type of jungle, ranging from the province of Tucumán to the border with Bolivia. A true gift from nature.

10

To finish the tour of the city of Salta, we will end at the iconic Artisan Market of the province. The mansion was built at the beginning of the 19th century and its large gallery stands out where the different stalls selling crafts and regional products currently operate.
