Situated in Piazza del Duomo, at the heart of Florence is the glorious Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore, topped by Brunelleschi's cupola, a true masterpiece of engineering. In the square you can also admire the Baptistry and Giotto's bell tower, sharing similar decorative styles in green, white and pink.

Created as part of a project of drastic changes to the historical centre of Florence in the late 1800, nowadays Piazza della Repubblica is filled with cafes, terraces and shops, a reminder to its ancient origins as the site of the Roman forum.

The square is the main point of the origin and history of the Florentine Republic and it still maintains the reputation of political focus of the city. The square is encircled by Palazzo Vecchio (the city town hall), the Uffizi Gallery and the Loggia della Signoria - an open-air sculptur gallery of antique and Reinassance art.

This medieval stone bridge was the only bridge in Florence spared from destruction during World War II. Characteristics are the shops built on its sides, which used to be common practice: however, butchers, farmers and tanners of the old days are now replaced by jewellers, art dealers and souvenirs sellers.

Visit the UNESCO World Heritage site "Piazza dei Miracoli" (Miracle Square) in Pisa. Here you will have the time to discover and admire universally known monuments such as the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Pisa Cathedral, the Pisa Baptistry and the Camposanto Monumentale (Monumental Cemetery), all magnificent examples of Romanesque architecture.

The bell tower, known as the Leaning Tower of Pisa, is by far the most famous building within the "Piazza dei Miracoli". Begun in 1173, the tower has been leaning since the beginnings of its construction and it is widely recognized as an outstanding feat of engineering. This spectacular monument can been enjoyed from the ground or by climbing tho 273 steps to the top, where you will get an beautiful view over the surroundings.
