Ben Macdui is the 2nd tallest mountain in the UK and makes for a fantastic journey across the artic-like Cairngorm plateau.
Our experienced mountain leaders will guide you along a fantastic route from the Cairngorm ski centre. You will be able to see the impressive northern corries from above and below, follow the south-west edge of the Loch Avon basin and even view a plane wreckage, all this on the way to the apparently haunted Ben Macdui summit.
Whether you are interested in sharing some local folklore, learning about our unique mountain flora, or you just want to bag the summit; the Ben Macdui guided hike certainly has plenty to offer.
*Please note if you are booking between November - April there is a high chance that crampons and axes will be required.
This hike takes us into the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, the home to a total of 55 Munros and 4 of the 5 tallest mountains within the UK. We love our home and believe it has so much to offer. 100s of unique lochs and lochans, miles of ancient caledonian pine forest and over 25% of the country's rare and endangered animal, insect and plant species. It truly is magical. But this magic needs to be protected and therefore we encourage people to discover this unique national park with us in a sustainable and responsible way.
The UK's 6th biggest mountain offers fantastic views of the National Park. From Glenmore forest and Loch Morlich to the unique plateau. There is so much to see. If you are lucky you on a clear weather day you can even see as far as Ben Nevis.
Park at the Cairngorm Ski Centre and walk up to the picnic benches just out in front of the cafe. Meet your guide wearing a "Lost Sheep" hat.
