You don’t need to be a certified diver in order to experience water at its clearest! Snorkeling at Silfra is suitable for anyone who feels comfortable in water and knows how to swim. This family-friendly activity is suitable for children from 12 years old.
The snorkeling tour of Silfra is done in a dry suit, helping you to stay warm and dry inside the suit while swimming in the cold, crystal clear water.
Silfra is located in Thingvellir National Park which is a Unesco heritage site. The beautiful park is one of the wonders on the famous Golden circle route.
Pickup included
We will pick you up in Reykjavík and drive you to Thingvellir National Park. During the one-hour drive, your guide will provide you with information about the unique geology and cultural history of Iceland and Silfra as well as the surrounding area of the UNESCO world heritage site.
Once your group of max 6 people has been formed, your guide will give you your drysuit, warm undersuit and snorkeling equipment. Your guide will explain how to use this equipment and how to ensure that you will be warm during your tour. You can change in our heated Changing Van and the guide will help you with putting all the gear on. We recommend wearing long underwear and thick socks. The briefing and gearing up takes approx 1 hour.
You will walk 5 minutes to Silfra and start your 30 - 45 minute snorkeling tour of Silfra Hall, Silfra Cathedral, and Silfra Lagoon.
After snorkeling in the cold water, we warm you up with hot cocoa and cookies. This is your chance to chat with your guide.

Please access the Manage My Booking portal at my.dive.is by typing your booking reference (DIV-###) and the name that appears on the booking.
On the portal, you can sign your liability release waiver and your medical form. This is mandatory for every participant.
If you need to change anything on your booking (date, time, number of participants), please contact Viator directly.
A YES answer in Section 1 of the medical form means that the tour is unsuitable for the person.
A YES answer in Section 2 means that they need to get our physician approval form signed off by their doctor. All participants above 60 years of age must have their doctor sign the approval form.
