Our tour will start with a wonderful beach stop at Spargi island
The granitic island of Spargi is the largest among the archipelago’s four minor ones. Known for its oriental side beaches, it has a surface of 4,20 Km2 and is the third-largest by size throughout the whole territory. The entire area rises up to 153 meters above sea level.
Spargi island is the favorite destination of many rare species of birds and Mediterranean fishes. This island is characterized by the majesty of its granite rocks and the presence of ancient shipwrecks at the bottom of the sea, such as the remains of a Roman ship, kept now in the naval museum on the Island of La Maddalena. Explore this pristine island and enjoy a unique tour of Spargi Island with untouched beach excursions in Sardinia.
A famous rock that you can see in Spargi is the “Testa Della Strega” (Witch Head), a rock sculpted by wind and water whose profile seems to resemble a witch. Another famous rock, “Cane Bulldog”, has the shape of a Bulldog
SANTA MARIA ISLAND: FAMOUS FOR ITS FINE SAND
The island of Santa Maria has a surface area of 2 square kilometers and a perimeter of about 10 kilometers. The altitude metric profile is lower than all the other islands of the Archipelago. It is separated from the Island of Razzoli by a very small canal, on the Eastside, named Passo degli Asinelli (Donkey's Pass).
On the Northern side, there is an even smaller canal, named Passo dello Strangolato (Strangled Pass).
Usually considered to belong to Santa Maria island territory, it is nonetheless the most northern point of the Sardinia mainland. On the south side is Santa Maria Bay, where there is a beautiful fine white sand beach that is undoubtedly the longest of all the archipelago.
Close to the beach, lies the ruins of the Benedictine monastery. Built by monks, the first settlers in the archipelago during the thirteenth century, visitors can follow a beautiful scenic path to the lighthouse at Punta Filetto.
After the stop at the beach and the break for lunch in front of the island of Spargi, we will sail Budelli Island: among the most famous in the Mediterranean for its beautiful pink beach.
This is certainly one of the most famous islands in the archipelago because of the Spiaggia Rosa, renowned for the enchanting pink color of its sand. Sadly, this exceptional sandy shore has been altered by the countless tourists who, despite severe enjoinments, have gathered and taken away the sand as a souvenir over the years.
The island of Budelli is considered the most beautiful in all of the Mediterranean Sea and is a symbol of the La Maddalena Archipelago National Park. Highlighting it as one of the most significant environmental sites, La Spiaggia Rosa (Pink Beach),situated on its southern side, is a monument of environmental protection. The sand's colour is due to the fragments of a microorganism called Miniacina Miniacea, and you can see this magical site up close on a pink beach Sardinia tour
the Island of Budelli is known throughout the world for being one of the most beautiful islands in the whole Mediterranean and it is very much appreciated abroad for its romantic Pink Beach. Precisely, in order to keep its natural heritage intact, this is constantly subjected to a strong protection regime, essentially under the care of the body that is responsible for supervising and protecting the surrounding environment and its extremely precious rarefied natural beauties, the Natural Park of the Archipelago of La Maddalena.
Its very particular name is given by the characteristic color of the pink sand of the beach in Cala di Roto. The very rare event occurs when the fragments of Miniacina miniacea, a particular foraminifera - a pink micro-organism - are dispersed in the seabed upon the death of the small organisms that inhabited the shells formed by this micro-organism.
