You choose the trail you wish to Bike, and we pick you, and your group up for a Private Tour which we aim to be a highlight of your holiday.
We ride every day during the year (except Christmas Day and Anzac Day). Whether it is Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter/Ski Season your family will enjoy a brilliant experience.
Our Guest Experience Manager will host your day, share a little history with you on the way, brief you on the trail/bikes, make sure that you are comfortable before you ride off with your seats at the right height.
Your actual ride is 'Self-Guided'. You will have a direct company mobile number to your Guest Experience Manager for any support required and on many trails you will see them along the way.

Guests will choose a single trail to complete their Private Tour on. The trails to choose from include a selection of Queenstown Trails, Wanaka & Hawea Trails, Lake Dunstan Trail, Roxburgh Gorge (Jet Boat additional) and The Best 30km of the Otago Rail Trail. If you want to complete a number of rides then please book a number of consecutive days of this experience and we will link the experiences together for the group.
Please contact nzbiketrails after booking to confirm the pickup location and to discuss the preferred or most appropriate trail to ride as a group.
The choice includes the Queenstown Trails, Wanaka & Hawea Trails, Lake Dunstan Trail, The Best 30km of the Otago Rail Trail and the Roxburgh Gorge (additional boat costs apply on Roxburgh).
For families with young children 8 years+ nzbiketrails would recommend a selection of the Queenstown Trails, Wanaka & Hawea Trails or 'The Best 30km of the Otago Rail Trail' (Auripo to Chatto Creek Tavern). These are easier Grade 1-2 Family Friendly rides. We will get your children comfortable riding our fleet of kids 24"/26" ebikes dependent on their size before you start off. Do not worry if this is your child's first e-bike ride - providing they are confident on their own bikes at home they will be good. On our 24" bikes we use Specialized Levo Turbo SL kids e-bikes. These bikes are very light compared to normal e-bikes.
On Lake Dunstan and the Roxburgh Gorge kids should be 10 years and over. They should also be confident on riding a bike and riding safely on a trail without any road access. These rides are smooth compacted gravel so they will be riding on a good surface but they will have to navigate blind corners and thinner parts of the trail.
We can advise on the best trail once you have booked. nzbiketrails regularly takes riders between the ages of 8 years and 80 years across our trails.
