Detailed itinerary

1

In Piazza della Vittoria you will sublimate yourself in the magic of the myth of the Land of the Sirens, in the enchantment of one of the most beautiful breathtaking panoramas in the world and we will meet Homer, Virgil, the French writer Yourcenar and the American writer Harriet Beecher Stowe and the illustrious great poet Torquato Tasso, a native of Sorrento. We will go to the Belle vue Sirene hotel where we will admire from above the ruins of the Roman Villa of Agrippa Postumo, nephew of Augustus and the two nymphaeums. I will show you a breathtaking panorama and let you imagine the Roman fish pond in a sea with crystal clear waters.

2
Stop 2

At the Borgo di Marina Grande where we will arrive after a 10-minute walk on foot, we will admire the characteristics of this place, the fishermen's nets and the typical Sorrentine goiter. We will stop to admire the balcony where the actress Sofia Loren leaned out in the famous film "Pane, amore e...." with Vittorio De Sica. We will take a ride on the pier and we will sublime in front of Vesuvius and the beauty of the Gulf of Naples.

3

From the Borgo di Marina Grande we will walk along Via Padre Reginaldo Giuliani and stop at the "Donna Sofia" restaurant, a characteristic place, a cult of chef Mario's Sorrento cuisine, where you can admire dozens of photographs of Sofia Loren. We will reach our destination, the house of Cornelia Tasso, the sixteenth-century palace where the sister of the great Sorrento writer Torquato Tasso lived which we will admire from the outside as the internal fresco that decorates the vault was destroyed by fire.

4

From Cornelia Tasso's house in two minutes we will go to the historic center among its craft shops, we will visit the Sedil Dominova and if you want we will go to the Museo della Tarsia Lignea, one of the two Sorrento museum jewels, reported by English tour operators among the top ten museums of Campania. Here we will admire the collection of Sorrentine inlays from the 19th century as well as a section dedicated to the works, vases and paintings that commemorate our great poet Torquato Tasso. ENTRANCE IS OPTIONAL AND MUST BE INDICATED AT THE TIME OF BOOKING. THE COST OF THE TICKET FOR ADULTS IS EURO 8.00.

5

From the MUTA we will return to Via Vittorio Veneto where we will make a stop both outside and inside the majestic Hotel Tramontano where the best known names of the royal houses have stayed, as well as painters and writers of the Grand Tour: from Henrik Ibsen to the French writer Marguerite Yourcenar . This majestic hotel was the place of inspiration for the de Curtis brothers of the well-known song "Torna a Surriento", of which we will tell the genesis and the anecdote. Inside we will admire the place where the great poet Torquato Tasso was born and his garden with secular trees.

6
Stop 6

In this enchanting fourteenth-century cloister, a place where civil weddings are celebrated and which hosts classical music concerts in the summer, we will admire the beauty of its colonnade and its intimacy under a weeping willow. Silence reigns in this place where the Franciscan monks live isolated from the Sorrentine worldly life intent on prayer and in the creation of the Neapolitan nativity scene.

7
Stop 7

From the Cloister we will pass through the Villa Comunale dedicated to our Sorrentine composer Salve d'Esposito, known for the famous song "Anema e core". Here you will have time to admire and photograph a breathtaking panorama that ranges from the island of Ischia to the Punta del Capo di Sorrento, Vesuvius and the entire Gulf of Naples.

8

From the Villa Comunale we will head towards the Hotel Excelsior Vittoria passing through Piazza S. Antonino, where we will admire the Statue dedicated to the Patron Saint of Sorrento with hints of its history and the Museum Restaurant dedicated to the tenor Enrico Caruso (if open). We will stop in front of the hotel which houses the two famous suites dedicated to the tenor Enrico Caruso and the singer Lucio Dalla. We will briefly go through the history of these two artists, also recalling the stay of the well-known composer Richard Wagner and his idyll which ended tumultuously with the philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche.

9

From the Hotel Vittoria we will head for a stop and a limoncello and granita tasting at the "Giardini di Cataldo" where we will visit a typical Sorrento citrus grove owned by the then commander Achille Lauro, subsequently purchased by the current owners who produce limoncello with the ancient tradition Sorrento. Alternatively, depending on the time available to tourists, we will go to Limonoro (Via San Cesareo in the historic center) where we will taste various types of biscuits, chocolates and liqueurs including limoncello, limoncello cream, pistachio cream and the little orange.

10

From the Cataldo Gardens we will walk along one of the most beautiful streets of Sorrento, where the most luxurious hotels and residences of the city dominate to arrive in front of the Correale Museum whose history we will describe by illustrating the two commemorative plaques placed on its sides until we reach via Aniello Califano where we will admire the last panorama of the tour to the rhythm of the song "O Surdato 'Nnammurato" written by the composer to whom the street is dedicated.

11

Here we will admire the mural dedicated to Lucio Dalla by the street artist Jorit Agoch. We will illustrate the story of the Bolognese singer and his link with the city that awarded him honorary citizenship.

12

We will stop and end our tour in this enchanting place, reviewed by the magazine "Nature" so called because once there were mills, today instead it is the realm of rare plants.

13
Stop 13

You will see how a piece of Sorrento inlay furniture is worked and you will visit near the most enchanting place in Sorrento, the Vallone dei Mulini, a unique shop where you will admire precious inlaid woodworking products, including an incredible gaming table.

14

In this Church dedicated to Saints Philip and James which dates back to 1400 we will admire a splendid nativity scene, the Via Crucis in Sorrento inlay, a chapel with a Chiajese style floor and the lid of a Roman tomb.

15

Here you will immerse yourself in the most enchanting and mysterious place of Sorrento, also illustrated in the magazine "nature" where nature grows uncontaminated and where no man can access.
