Detailed itinerary

1

Langkawi—the jewel of Kedah—is an archipelago of 99 tropical islands surrounded by azure waters. It is one of the top travel destinations in the world and for good reasons, too. The island is rich in natural bounties and cultural heritage; peppered with historical sites that are well-preserved and numerous attractions that would have you feeling rueful for only allocating a few days to fully explore the island.

Prepare to be transported back in time as you listen and learn about Langkawi’s countless folklore and enthralling legends.

2
Stop 2

After hotel or port pickup at 9.00am, we will visit the legendary Mahsuri’s tomb (the site where Mahsuri died). The legend of Mahsuri supposedly accounts for Langkawi’s relatively ‘newfound’ success and judging by its increasing prosperity, the island has survived the curse.

Description

Mahsuri Tomb-Makam Mahsuri is a space in the legendary Princess Mahsuri and located at Kampung Mawat, 12km from Kuah, it is also known as Makam Mahsuri. Many natural attractions on the island have attached tales in the style of real English and Mahsuri the legend may be the most famous.

3
Stop 3

(Please note this attraction close every Tuesday) Your first stop will be at Atma Alam, a place where you get to observe the meticulous process of traditional batik printing. Watch as the medley of art and culture is reflected through wax and dyes; giving the piece of cloth life. Go ahead and take the opportunity to purchase some hand-drawn silk and local cloth handicraft to commemorate your visit.

4

The "Field of Burnt Rice" (Ladang Beras Terbakar) in Langkawi, Malaysia, holds historical significance dating back to the late 18th century. Legend has it that during a Siamese invasion in 1821, the locals of Langkawi, led by a woman named Mahsuri, sought refuge in this rice field. As a defensive measure, they set fire to the rice fields to prevent the invaders from harvesting the crops, leaving nothing behind for them to sustain themselves.

5
Stop 5

Named after seven natural pools connected by a gushing river, Seven Wells Waterfall is one of Langkawi's most captivating natural performances. Located within the Machinchang Cambrian Geoforest Park, the falls are split into 2 sections, the upper pools and the lower pools, separated by a striking vertical waterfall cascading down a 91-meter-high cliff face.

Cooling down in a refreshing natural pool is the reward for hiking through the humid rainforest to reach the zen-laden waterfall, amidst leafy trees with cheeky monkeys swinging between their branches.

First up are the lower pools, reached after climbing around 200 steps. These are the most popular for their ease of access, view of the vertical waterfall, and large plunge pool at the bottom of a slippery rockface. Dedicated hikers continue the climb totaling 638 steps to reach the upper pools. Here you'll find the fall's namesake 7 pools of various depths, shapes, and sizes.

6
Stop 6

Laman Padi is a living museum of an eco-tourism attraction conceptually based upon love for nature in a tradition of rice ecosystem. Set in an area of 13.86 acres in size, the natural setting promotes a rustic view of the serene greenness of the 8.6 acres paddy field within the compound.

The rice heritage is invaluable – its history and traditions dated hundreds of years ago can be appreciated by visiting the exhibition at the gallery. The traditional practices of paddy farming together with the artifacts assembled are uniquely blended amidst the real setting of paddy field environment.

7

Next, we will proceed to Cenang Street. Along of Cenang Street you can have a walk at beachside, do some duty free shopping and you can find Underwater World which is one of the largest marine and fresh water aquaria in South East Asia.

Cenang Street

Pantai Cenang is the busiest beach town on Langkawi Island, where you can find a diverse mix of cafes and restaurants, as well as souvenir shops, and duty-free outlets along its picturesque beach strip. Just a 10-minute drive from Langkawi International Airport, it’s a popular holiday destination for travelling families thanks to its kid-friendly attractions such as Underwater World Langkawi, Rice Garden Museum, and Kiki Club at Meritus Pelangi Resort & Spa.

8
Stop 8

The excursion to discover Langkawi is not complete without a visit to Eagle Square and Kuah town. Whip out your camera or smartphones and start taking pictures of the iconic landmark—the statue of a great Eagle—that symbolises Langkawi.

9

Then, proceed to Kuah town (just a 10-minute drive away from Eagle Square) to shop for as many duty-free items as you want. From tobacco and alcohol to fancy perfumes, this is the best location to get all that you need and more.
