We headed for route No. 11, skirting the Argentino Lake. From El Calafate, to the Perito Moreno Glacier, there is a distance of 80 km, by paved road in its entirety.
From the beginning, the trip holds pleasant surprises. Leaving the Town, to the right we can see the Argentino Lake with its Round Bay.
In it you can see an important variety of birdlife, standing out the black-necked swan, flamingo, steam duck, coot, and goose. The yellow color of the field stands out, this is due to its pastures called coirón, and among them, the white and short coirón stands out.
In the first 40 km the Patagonian steppe is covered, later going to the entrance of the National Park to observe the arboreal vegetation belonging mostly to the "notofagus" family (ñires, cherries, lengas), and flowers of various colors, among which the notro stands out for its intense red color corresponding to the Patagonian Andean Forest.

The Perito Moreno Glacier is one of the most impressive spectacles in Patagonia. It is a large mass of ice and its proportions are so enormous that you have to see them live to understand them.
One way to observe it is by visiting Los Glaciares National Park, and walk the walkways that border the front of the glacier, which is located 30km from the park entrance and was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1981.
The walkways have three levels, and add up to 4 km, which reach the proximity of the glacier. The route is made up of stairs, ramps, an elevator and balconies with very easy access railings. The different levels of the viewpoints allow you to see the glacier in the safest way, from different perspectives that allow you to appreciate the different textures and colors of the ice.
In addition, fractures and ruptures in the ice constantly occur that fall on the water and cause a great noise.
It does not include the entrance to Los Glaciares National Park.
The passenger can manage them in advance at the following link, https://ventaweb.apn.gob.ar/reserva/inicio, or pay them in cash at the entrance of the same.
