Your first stop is Jama Masjid, India's largest mosque. Constructed in 1656 with the labor of 5,000 workers, this architectural marvel invites you to explore its expansive red sandstone courtyard and immerse yourself in its rich history.
Khari Baoli is a bustling street in Delhi renowned for its wholesale grocery and Asia's largest spice market. Here, you’ll find an array of spices, nuts, herbs, and food products such as rice and tea. Operating since the 17th century, this vibrant market is conveniently located near the historic Delhi Red Fort.
The Red Fort, constructed by Shah Jahan between 1638 and 1648, was the principal residence of Mughal emperors. Its architecture showcases a stunning blend of Indo-Islamic and Mughal styles. One of its most impressive features is its 2-kilometer-long wall, which adds to the grandeur of this historic fort.
It holds two Guinness World Records. Built in 2005, its ancient-looking architecture makes it seem like it's been around for over a thousand years. Despite its relatively recent construction, it stands as one of the largest Hindu temples in the world.
The India Gate War Memorial, built in 1931 from yellow sandstone, honors the 13,300 Indian Army servicemen who lost their lives during World War I. The names of these brave soldiers are intricately carved into its walls, serving as a solemn tribute to their sacrifice.
After visiting India Gate, you'll drive by the Parliament House. Feel free to take pictures before heading on to your next monument.
Your final stop in Delhi is the Lotus Temple, a Bahá'í House of Worship dedicated in December 1986. Renowned for its distinctive flower-like design, the temple has become a major attraction in the city.
Humayun's Tomb is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and India’s first garden tomb. Built by Humayun's wife, Empress Bega Begum, the tomb was constructed in his memory after his death.
The Qutub Minar, built in 1192 from bricks, is the tallest minaret in the world. Located in Mehrauli, it is also part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
