Ihlara Valley is a fantastic canyon with a depth of about 100 meters and about 10 km. It was formed by the volcanic activity from Mount Hasan and erosion by the Melendiz River for hundred thousands of years.

Ihlara Valley is not only a natural beauty, but also a rocky settlement area that hosted an extreme monastery life between 4th to 13th centuries

Selime monastery is the biggest religious building in Cappadocia with a cathedral-size church. Inside the cathedral there are two rows of rock columns. These columns divide the cathedral into three sections. The size of the church is astonishing. The columns and arches of the church, cut directly from the tuff within the Selime monastery, still bear the tell-tale markings of various generations that once lived there.
