About this experience

The Bridge Pa Triangle and Gimblett Gravels wine growing regions of Hawkes Bay are home to the highest concentration of Cellar Doors in the region.

From our shop, in the heart of a vineyard - just 200m from your first winery, you can choose from a number of wineries to visit. Meander around the region on purpose-built cycle trails - it's very easy cycling as the region is flat. Stop in at a winery or two. Many offer cheese platters to lunch on, a few have more ambitious menus for you to try. Come and enjoy a great day out.

What you'll see

Collect your bike between 10am and 12pm from our base in Ash Ridge Wines’ vineyard. Then, clip on your helmet, hop into the saddle and peddle through the New Zealand countryside to begin your independent cycling tour.

With your winery map to hand, follow flat, winding routes through the heart of the Hawke's Bay wine region. Along the way, visit the wineries that appeal to you and discover the diverse range of wines with a wine tasting (own expense).

Perhaps visit wineries* such as Paritua Vineyard, Sileni Wines, Alpha Domus, Oak Estate, Ash Ridge Wines, Trinity Hill Unison Vineyard or Stonecroft. Depending on how many wineries you visit — and how long you stay — your tour will likely take between four and six hours. You can enjoy a quick lunch (own expense) overlooking vines at Sileni WInes, Ash Ridge, Trinity Hill, Unison or Oak Estate before meandering onto the next winery.

With roadside support to help if you have any difficulties — such as a flat tyre — and to collect any wine that you purchase from the wineries (own expense), you’re free to relax and enjoy your day.

At the end of your ride, return your bike to your starting point to bring your tour to an end.

*Not all wineries are open every week day. All are open on weekends.
