As an island, Lanzarote is surrounded by wild, practically virgin beaches with little waves. In some of them the water is so calm that there are even natural pools. The breakwaters and the solidified lava on part of its coast have also caused the formation of pools and puddles on the seashore where one can soak and forget about time.
We will observe from the Mirador de Las Salinas de Janubio.
Then we will go down to see the salt lagoons up close and we will go through the store where you can buy natural Janubio salts.
These salt flats are the largest in the Canary Islands and constitute a high architectural and cultural value.
Today they continue to produce the white gold they called it, salt, which was essential to the island's economy until not many decades ago. They are in a lagoon created by volcanic eruptions that created a lava barrier in front of the sea where the black beach of Salinas was also created by nature, with sand and tiny black rocks that contrast with the white foam with which the sea caress its shore.
We will go to the black beach of Janubio, where we will be surprised to observe the large lava rocks full of precious green stones called Olivina, the crystallization of the lava in contrast to the sea created this wonder of Lanzarote green, and sometimes fiery red. A walk along this beach finding treasures will be very relaxing and a great experience.
The Stop de Yaiza Tapas Bar is one of the places that should not be missed, the tapas are recipes from 1890 and the Malvasia Volcanica wines are from the house, we will make a stop to eat some tapas and recharge our batteries.
The incredible wine area called La Geria is the most ingenious sight to behold on the island, farmers devised a way to dig up their plants covered in volcano ash which at the same time has created a unique view of their fields.
We will visit the wineries, the tasting is free and not included in the price.
