Detailed itinerary

1

Pick up from the hotel to Shamakhi and stop at Diribaba Mausoleum. Situated in Maraza (currently part of Gobustan district), the Diribaba Mausoleum represents a significant historical and architectural monument within Azerbaijan. Constructed in the 15th century, this two-story structure is hewn directly into a vertical limestone cliff, exemplifying an integration of natural geological formations with Islamic architectural principles. It is 110 minutes driving distance from the meeting point to the Diribaba. Visitors typically allocate 30 minutes at the site for guided examination and interpretive explanation.

2

The tour proceeds to the Juma Mosque in Shamakhi. It is 25 minutes driving distance from Diribaba to the Mosque. The Juma Mosque of Shamakhi (Friday Mosque), originally built in the 8th century (744 AD), is one of the oldest and most significant Islamic structures in the Caucasus region. As the spiritual centerpiece of Shamakhi, it has witnessed empires rise and fall, earthquakes and multiple reconstructions - all whil retaining its importance as a symbol of resilience and faith. Guests will spend here around 20 minutes with the explanation by their private guide.

3

The tour continues to Yeddi Gumbaz Mausoleum in Shamakhi. It is 5 minutes driving distance from Juma Mosque to Yeddi Gumbaz. The Yeddi Gumbaz Mausoleum (meaning “Seven Domes”) is a hauntingly beautiful royal necropolis located on a quiet hillside just outside Shamakhi. Dating back to the 18th and early 19th centuries, these mausoleums were built as the final resting place for members of the Shirvan Khanate ruling family. Guests will spend around 20 minutes here with the explanation by their private guide.

4

The fourth visited place is Zernava Suspension Bridge in Ismayilli. It is 60 minutes driving distance from the Yeddi Gumbaz to this place. Bridge is a remarkable pedestrian bridge spanning the Girdiman River in the Ismayilli region of Azerbaijan. At 74 meters in length, it connects the remote village of Zarnava to the main road leading to Lahij, offering a vital link for locals and an exhilarating experience for visitors. Guests will spend nearly 20 minutes here exploring the bridge and enjoying its breathtaking panoramic views.

5

The final stop of the tour is Lahij Village. The village lies just a 30-minute drive from the bridge. Lahij is one of the oldest settlements in Azerbaijan, renowned for its folk artistry, distinctive traditions and stunning natural scenery. Situated at an altitude of 1200–1500 meters above sea level, the village has a history spanning more than 2000 years. Lahij is celebrated not only for its unique architecture and heritage but also for its master craftsmen who produce exceptional works of art. Around 127 different crafts have developed here over centuries. Today, local artisans continue the traditions of copper making, leather production, blacksmithing and carpet weaving. Lahij is particularly famous for its exquisite copperware, once traded throughout the Caucasus and now displayed in some of the world’s leading museums. Travelers will spend about 60 minutes in Lahij Village with explanations provided by their private guide.
