Detailed itinerary

1

After the meeting we start the tour to Diri Baba Mausoleum located between Baku and Shamakhi. We reach there in 1 hour and half.

2

While reaching the Mauseloum, guide will explain about the history of this place by walking around and inside. There are many legends about Diri Baba and with its ancient mysteries, this landmark attracts many curious visitors.Diri Baba is a two-storied mausoleum-mosque of the 15th century. The mausoleum stands in a square located on a glyptic cliff. The monument was built of white limestone in a cave hollowed out of a rock in 1402.
Guest will spend here 30 minutes and later heading to Shamakhi Juma Mosque.
Admission fee to the Mauseloum is 6 USD per person

3

From Diri Baba Mausoleum to the Juma Mosque is 30 minutes distance by car.
Shamakhi Juma Mosque, one of the oldest Muslim temples in Azerbaijan, as well as in the South Caucasus and the Middle East and first Mosque in Azerbaijan was built in 743. After the earthquake in Shamakhi in 1902, a part of the minaret of Juma Mosque was destroyed. However, the evidence that this mosque is an older temple is that it has three mehrabs and, accordingly, its internal structure is divided into three parts.
While entering inside the Mosque, you need to remove your shoes, but walking barefoot is not a problem, because the floor is covered with thick carpets. In addition, women must cover their heads in order to enter the mosque, so they provide free head cover at the entrance, which is required to be returned at the exit.
Guests spend here about 30 minutes.

4

Yeddi Gumbaz is also situated In Shamakhi region and 15 minutes far from the Juma Mosque.
Yeddi Gumbaz Mausoleum – is a cemetery located 1,5 km south to Şamaxı where three mausoleums from “Yeddi Gumbaz” group are still saved. Other mausoleums of the group are partly destroyed and are without cupola or walls. The mausoleum belongs to the beginning of the 18th century. This architectural monument was built for a family of Mustafa khan – the last khan of Shamakhi.
The most ancient of them is dated to 1810, which is testified by a ligature carved on the mausoleum. This mausoleum is eight-edged. Its external edges have niches, which are covered with arch shaped half-cupolas.

5

Tour continues to Ismayilli region and next point is Hanging Bridge (Zernava Bridge). From the Yeddi Gumbaz to the bridge is 60 minutes by car at least. You will see the beauty of the nature and the view of the majestic natural canyon and Zernava suspension bridge.

6

As a part of the tour, our last stop is Lahij village. from the Hanging Bridge to the Lahij is 40 minutes way by car.
Ismayilli region stands out for its unique nature. The village of Lahij is known far beyond the borders of the republic thanks to its copper craftsmen. Lahij is one of the most ancient human settlements and notable place in Azerbaijan, with its authentic handicrafts traditions, particularly related to copper. The village's carpet and rug crafts are also well known in Azerbaijan and the South Caucasus. Lahij has an old sewage system (some experts claim that it was built 1000–1500 years ago). Due to frequent earthquakes local people have developed sophisticated and authentic construction techniques.
Guests will spent about 1 hour and half or more here with the guide explanation, see the live handicraft working process and more.
After completing the tour, guests return back to Baku, that takes about 4 hours with technical stops on the way.
