With a visit to the workshop of a mask craftsman in Mamoiada, in the heart of Sardinia, you can hear the story of the masks of Mamuthones and Issohadores, told by those who every day transforms a piece of wood into what has become the symbol of carnival in Sardinia. At Mamoiada the masks are still made as they were: light, wearable, dyed black, with frowning eyebrows and the mouth contracted in a grimace of pain. Our guide and craftsman will show you his evocative workshop, where you will follow the various stages of processing, from the trunk to the mask.
