The park was built to commemorate the historic landing of Gen. Douglas MacArthur in Leyte Gulf in his campaign to liberate the Philippines from Japanese occupation. This event led to the largest naval battle of World War II.
The park is located in the Municipality of Palo and is one of the most visited sites in Leyte. Main feature is the larger than life bronze statue of Gen Douglas MacArthur.
