Join us on our exploration of Sete Cidades, one of the 7 natural wonders of Portugal. Enjoy some of the most iconic landscapes of the Azores from "Vista do Rei" and "Grota do Inferno" viewpoints. Learn about the local geology and biology and relax by the twin "blue and green" lakes. This walking tour includes a guide, a picnic lunch and all the needed transportation.
If you are staying in Ponta Delgada, the pickup will at the tourism office of Ponta Delgada, which is at the center of the city. The transport for the group is a Mercedez-Benz van of 9 seat with air conditioning to ensure confort. Having a small group will also make the tour much more pleasing and friendlier.
Our van will then head to the west side of the island, stopping at Pico do Carvão viewpoint where you will be able to see almost the entire island and understand how it was formed. Next we start the walk at the south area of the volcano. Along the walk you will have a diverse set of perspectives of the Sete Cidades lakes/lagoons but also the farming areas and the parishes in the surrounding sites of the volcano. The walk is considered easy since most parts of it are not steep and the soil is mostly even.
The picnic lunch is included and we will enjoy either during or after the walk. After the walk we visit the Sete Cidades parish and some of its points of interest close to the twin lakes.
Trail Length: 7.5 to 11 Km. It changes according to your preferred starting point;
