Located just over an hour from Cape Town, the Cape Canopy Tour is situated in the scenic Elgin Valley, within CapeNature’s Hottentots Holland Nature Reserve—a designated World Heritage Site.

The tour features eleven thrilling zipline slides, some stretching over 300 meters. Each slide concludes on a platform built directly onto the cliffs and fynbos-covered slopes high above the Riviersonderend Gorge. A unique highlight guaranteed to be unforgettable is the suspension bridge crossing a narrow sandstone ravine, suspended high above a spectacular double waterfall.

The Cape Canopy Tour is a fully guided nature experience that strongly emphasizes guest comfort and safety. Two trained facilitators will accompany each group on the 4-5 hour tour. They will share information about the endemic fynbos and the fascinating geology of this unique World Heritage Site.

Minimum age: 5 years. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Children need to be able to fit safely into our child's harness. Smaller/younger children are taken tandem with one of our guides. They may NOT go tandem with their parents. Unfortunately we do not allow babies, even if they are in a kangaroo pouch.
Tandems: We are able to offer 2 tandems per tour time. To ensure guide and client safety we can only offer tandems to guests who weigh less than 50kg. Please be sure to advise us via email, if there will be any children under the age of 9 years on your tour so that we are able to make arrangements. Children aged 5-9 years will most likely need to do the tour in tandem with the guide. Please be sure to advise us if there will be any children under the age of 9 years on your tour so that we are able to make arrangements.
Pregnancy Policy: Moms to be, we apologise – due to the bumpy 4x4 ride, this tour is not for you while you are pregnant.
Maximum Weight: 100-110 kg. We suggest a weight restriction per person of approximately 100kg to 110kg – this restriction is not weight-related but rather imposed by the size of the harnesses we use and is based on the circumference of the straps around the body.
Fitness Level: Moderate. This is an adventure activity, and we recommend a reasonable level of fitness: you will need to hike for 1km up and out of the mountain after the tour. A moderate level of fitness, as well as upper body and core strength, is required to safely participate in this activity.

Important notes

• Please be sure to arrive latest 15 minutes BEFORE your trip start time.
• Please allow for sufficient travel time, as your tour will start promptly and we are unable to accommodate guests that arrive after their tour time.
• What to Wear/Bring: Warm clothes. Weather in the mountain is unpredictable, please be prepared with something warm just in case. Comfortable practical clothes for ziplining (very short denim shorts are not practical once you have a harness on). Sunblock & Hat. Rain Jacket on the rainy/drizzly days. You are welcome to bring a small light backpack. You are welcome to take your phone or camera (just remember this will be at your own risk).
• Children must be accompanied by an adult.
• Minimum age is 5 years.
• All passenger weights MUST be advised at time of booking.
• For safety reasons we don’t allow alcohol on or before the tour. We have a strict no drinking prior to the tour policy. We reserve the right to prevent guests suspected of alcohol consumption from joining the tour.
