Bimmah Sinkhole, located in the eastern Muscat Governorate of Oman, is a stunning water-filled depression with turquoise waters. Spanning 50 meters by 70 meters and approximately 20 meters deep, this natural wonder was shaped by the collapse of the surface layer caused by the dissolution of limestone below. Interestingly, local beliefs attribute its creation to a meteorite called 'Hawaiyat Najm' or 'The Falling Star' in Arabic, hence its name. To ensure its preservation, the local municipality has developed Hawiyat Najm Park, complete with a stairway leading down to the lake, surrounding this remarkable sinkhole.
During your visit to the Wadi Dayqah Dam, you will have the opportunity to enjoy breathtaking views of the expansive storage lake, surrounded by majestic mountains. The contrast between the calm waters and the rugged landscape creates a truly mesmerizing sight, showcasing the beauty and power of nature.
