Hunza, a prehistoric valley which take us thousands of years back when early humans were living and passing through it on way to Central Asia and China over the passes. The rock inscriptions at Ganaish which is guest book of Hunza take us some 5000 years back. Some of the main tourist attractions of this valley are six peaks above 7000 meters. It is the collision point of Continental Plates where the Indian and Eurasian plates had collided 55 million years ago given rise to Himalaya and Karakoram Mountain Ranges. Tethys Ocean got trapped in-between. The name of Skurdu is derived from Bailti word which means a low ground between high places. This valley is at the junction of two rivers Shigar and Indus at an elevation of 2,500 meters. Since 7th century Skurdu was part of Tibetan Empire under Songsten Gampo. In 9th century the control came to Maqpon Dynasty under a Kashmiri prince Ibrahim Shah.
