About this experience

What you'll see

The day will start with you being picked up from your hotel in the San Jose, Alajuela or Heredia area. Feel free to bring along a back pack or carry-on as you will be traveling in a transport minivan from the hotel to the tour start destination. On the way you will be able to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the costa rican landscape of fields, hills and mountains covered in shades of green forest. The lunch that is included with this unique tour will be coordinated based upon the pick up time which will be previously scheduled personally with you.

Once you arrive to the start point of the tour you will receive brief instructions regarding the logistics and rules related to the tour.

The tour takes place in the Tarcoles river which is home to the american crocodile species and others. The river itself originates in the southern slopes of the central volcanic mountain range and travels to the southwest into the Nicoya Gulf. You will be traveling along the river in a multi-passenger boat with a bilingual guide who will provide you more than enough details as you sit back and enjoy the trip. The boat has a glass bottom which will allow you to capture what goes on underwater along with outside of the water for the complete aquatic experience.

You will be a part of an adventurous nature tour where you will see American crocodiles of all sizes along with several other species of exotic birds, iguanas, lizards, crabs, monkeys, and more wildlife.  Enjoy a leisurely sail along the cool, calm waters of the Tarcoles River as you will observe one of the world's largest species of crocodile in it's natural habitat. These territorial beasts can be seen gliding silently along in the water or catching some sunshine and rays along the bank of the river. This is a one of a kind experience considering you will be in the crocodiles natural habitat where you can witness for yourself how they live.
