You will walk through the Sacred Mountain (Danibaan in Zapotec), it was the ancient capital of the Zapotecs, one of the first cities of Mesoamerica, with a population of 30,000 people in its maximum splendor, it was founded approximately 500 years BC. C., blooming until 750 d. C.
We will visit a family workshop in this town. These colorful and fantasy animal figures, made of wood from the "copal" tree, hide a mysticism. We will see the entire process from when they are carved until they are painted with beautiful Zapotec designs on them. Ask the craftsman what is your spiritual figure or protective animal, you will be surprised!
In San Bartolo Coyotepec people are proud of the pre-Hispanic work they do, here we will experience how people work with black pottery and we will see how they still use the pre-Hispanic wheel to make classic, modern and master works.
