This tour is a mix of walking in the countryside and a morning routine in a little Mediterranean town.
We will enjoy the views of Korčula from east and west and walk in nature where scents and sounds tell the story of an island named after its forests. On our route we will stop at a few places hidden from the usual tourist paths and you'll hear about local culture, history and customs. In fact, you 'll be one of 1% percent of visitors who will have seen some of them.
A short visit to the fish and green market will give you a better idea about what we locals eat.
Towards the end of the tour, we will buy a few home- made traditional cookies and have a cup of coffee at my favorite café. Having time to enjoy a cup of coffee with friends every day is a privilege of life in a small town. And I love meeting new people, so I am looking for a chance to have a cup of coffee and a little chat. At the end, you will be ready for the day ahead, energised and relaxed.
Welcome to Korčula :-)
The tour will take you through the town to the nearby parks and forest. You will enjoy the views of the historic part of Korčula Town from east and west, walk in the nearby countryside and see landmarks and structures that are rarely visited by locals. You will mostly walk in a lush green environment. However, walking through the selected urban area will give you a deeper understanding of present day life in Korčula.
During the tour we will visit a fortress built during British rule in the early 19th century. It is still as strong as it once was and I will tell you about its origins. As a kid, I used to play a lot with my friends around it.
We'll meet near the round - shaped fountain in Plokata Square, just in front of the OTP Bank building. There is a fountain photo in the tour photos. You shouldn't miss it :-)
