Old Delhi City was founded by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in 1639. Now the ancient city is crowded and one of the lively place with old houses, bunch of wholesale markets dealing in traditional Indian spices, Weeding Clothes, Sarees, Dry fruits and much more. There are a number of old structures, streets and other landmarks with an interesting history spread all over.

When in old Delhi don't forgot to take Rickshaw ride to scroll the Chandni Chowk market & this would allow you to experience the hidden aspects of Indian history of that place. Dive into the riot of colors at Khari Baoli, Asia’s largest spice market in old Delhi. This market as old as the 17th century encompasses hundreds of shops selling local and exotic spices from around the country. Witness huge sacks filled with black salt, tamarind, turmeric, red chilies, and nutmeg lined across the narrow streets.

Housing the Mughals for nearly two centuries, the Red Fort took almost ten years to build. Listed one among the UNESCO World Heritage sites, this colossal sandstone structure features excellent Islamic architecture. An eminent historic hotspot, each year on Republic Day the Prime Minister of India hoists the Tricolor from its glorious ramparts.

Raj Ghat is a memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi. It is a black marble platform that marks the spot of Mahatma Gandhi's cremation, Antyeshti (last rites) on 31 January 1948, a day after his assassination. It is left open to the sky while an eternal flame burns at one end.

One of the most captivating landmarks in the capital city of India, Parliament House, also known as the Sansad Bhavan is an epic spot to witness. In the year 1947, this building was the place where Britain handed over the powers to the newly independent India. Visitors are not allowed inside.

A remarkable monument to discover, Agrasen ki Baoli dates back to the 14th century. Characterizing around 103 steps descending to the bottom, the rare beauty of this step-well is sure to set your eyes reeling. During your trip, you might just get lucky to hear some eerie stories related to this place.

Agrasen ki Baoli, designated a protected monument by the Archaeological Survey of India under the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act of 1958, is a 60-meter long and 15-meter wide historical step well.

At the center of New Delhi stands the 42 m high India Gate, an "Arc-de-Triomphe" like archway in the middle of a crossroad. Almost similar to its French counterpart, it commemorates the 20,000 Indian soldiers who lost their lives fighting for the British Army during the World War I. The memorial bears the names of more than 13,516 British and Indian soldiers killed in the Northwestern Frontier in the Afghan war of 1919.

Humayun's Tomb is Situated on the Mathura Road, this is the burial or mausoleum of Humayun and it is one of the significant constructions done during the Mughal Rule. It was built by Haji Begum (the wife of Humayun) using the characteristic red sandstone which always had a special place in the Mughal architecture. Very recently in the early 1990s it was put in the list of UNESCO World heritage sites.
Humayun's tomb was the first garden-tomb on the Indian subcontinent. It inspired several major architectural innovations, culminating in the construction of the Taj Mahal and many other Mughal architecture and garden complexes in India.

Lotus temple is a hit among the tourists coming to Delhi. The magnificent architecture and the peaceful aura are two things that will be greatly admired by the visitors. This temple has got such a name because it is built in the shape of a lotus. It is not dedicated to a particular God or deity as it is a Baha’i faith temple which believes in equality and oneness of all religions. One can just sit in the hall and meditate in the calmness.

Qutub Minar is the tallest minaret in India. It used to have 27 mandir's/Temples & material from 27 Mandir's was used to construct a mosque.
Qutub Minar now been given the title of UNESCO world heritage site. Such is the fame of this monument that a its picture appears on the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Travel cards.
