A tour on the road along the Amalfi state road 163.
Duration: 2 hours: Photographic tour from Salerno to Amalfi, along the panoramic state road 163 of the Amalfi Coast
From Salerno, only 5 km to get to the first stage of the state road 163, Vietri sul Mare, a small town with a big name in the manufacture of ceramics.
In less than 6 km you arrive at the second stage of the itinerary, Cetara, a small fishing village, famous above all for the precious and exquisite production of anchovy sauce, an amber-colored liquid sauce, obtained by putting the anchovies in salt and pressed in barrels. A long and delicate process that takes from five to six months and that justifies the price, it must be said, very salty. In any case, it is not easy to find the original product (and not watered down), but the taste of spaghetti seasoned with colatura is a real pleasure for the palate.
A little more than 9.5 km and you arrive in Maiori, popular for the breadth of the beaches, quite rare along the coast
A kilometer after Maiori, here we are in Minori where the stop becomes greedy and a must at the historic pastry shop Sal De Riso, overlooking the seafront, in Piazza Cantilena.
Just 6 kilometers away, isolated from traffic, you will find this tiny medieval fishing village, one of the most beautiful in Italy. To visit for the beauty of its inhabited center, with covered paths, courtyards, "stairways" and overpasses, with houses with flowered balconies that, from the beach, rise along the rocky slopes of the hill to gather around the square. It is worth going up to the terrace of the Collegiate Church of S.M. Maddalena from which you can enjoy a spectacular view of the Gulf of Salerno.
Noble, illustrious, rich, opulent, it was the first of the maritime republics and still unmissable for the promenade, one of the most evocative of the coast, and for the Cathedral, symbol of the town, with the imposing staircase and its Cloister of Paradise. Strolling along via dei Mercanti, you can stop for a fried seafood washed down with a glass of wine.
