This tour is a seasonal tour. The reason for it is that the roads that allow access to most of the sites are closed or impassable in the winter time.
Even during the summer months, some sites require special vehicle to get to them. And we have just the kind of jeep you need.
We will also take advantage of this vehicle to drive on the backroads that connect those sites together. It allows us to cruise away from the crowds, and will give you a strong adventure feeling.
Finally, the main perk about this tour is to not only focus on nature, but also gives you an insight of Viking history.

After driving for about 2 hours, we will visit a double waterfall, falling among basaltic columns in a small pond. The best scenery to begin a beautiful day.
After Hjálparfoss, we will visit Stöng, the remains of a Viking longhouse, found and excavated in 1939. The drive to there takes about 20 minutes, and this is when we will start driving on backroads and make use of the Super Jeep that we will be travelling in.
Still driving on the backroads, we will go to and discover a real oasis in Iceland. Amidst dark and rugged landscapes, lava rocks and black sand, Gjáin offers a display of lush vegetation, water streams and waterfalls.
After about 30 minutes drive, we will see one of the tallest waterfalls in Iceland. Actually, Háifoss, means "High Waterfall".
Falling into a beautiful canyon, this is not the only waterfall in the area, its neighbor, Granni, is just as beautiful.
After having visited Stöng, we will visit a museum/exhibition which is a recreation of what Stöng used to look like, according to historians and archeologists.
Should you wish to, and depending on their availability, we will take our dinner in a Viking-theme restaurant. Ingólfskáli offers a very fine cuisine, with locally sourced ingredients.
