Also known as "Great Hell". Most of the spring water on the ground of Owakudani is poisonous. It was originally called Oojigoku, which was formed by the eruption of Mount Hakone 3,000 years ago. It was renamed Oojigoku when Emperor Meiji visited there in 1876.
