Norchia is an extraordinary site, wild and grandiose, almost abandoned, yet impressive! It is called "The Little Italian Petra" due to the presence of majestic rock tombs from the Etruscan era, in fact the ancient Orclae (Etruscan Norchia) was a rich city forming part of the powerful Etruscan capital Tarchna (Tarquinia). The Etruscan settlement began in the 3rd-34th century. to. C. but its origins are rooted in distant prehistory. Our adventure will start from the exploration of the necropolis, descending into the deep canyon of the Acqualta river, and then climbing up the woods to the Etruscan-Roman acropolis which in the Middle Ages was the site of the 12th century Di Vico castle. A.D. The traces of the medieval city are still jealously guarded by a lush forest. The city dominated the ancient "Via Clodia" dug entirely into the tuff for more than 400 meters, today called "Cava Buia", which we will have the thrill of exploring!
