It is a one of the major towns on the way from Kochi to Alappuzha. The area is cluster of Sea Food Freezing and Processing Plants and business houses food packers and exporters. Apart from large scale production units the place is also of fish farms

The next small town from Aroor is Chandiroor. This town where there are a few fish markets, coir yarn cottage industrial units and backwaters. the High way is studded with elegant residential buildings and small and some what shops selling daily need s of the people.

Another small town on the way towards Alappuzha is famous for backwaters and fish farms ( Pokkali Farms, where alternated rice and fish is farmed.)

Thuravoor is famous for the great temple of Lord Siva. A typical temple with Kerala Temple architecture with a huge temple tank. This is a live temple and will see many devotees and pilgrims come to worship through out the day.
