You'll start your journey from Amman, Jordan's capital city, heading southwest towards Madaba. Driving back to Amman from Petra involves taking the Desert Highway (Route 15) north for approximately 117 kilometers (73 miles). Along the way, you can make a 15-20 minute rest stop at a rest house or service station. After the break, continue driving on the Desert Highway until you reach your destination in Amman.
