Yehliu is a cape of about 1,700 meters long formed by Datun Mountain reaching into the sea. When overlooked from above, the place is like a giant turtle submerging into the sea. Thus, it is also called "Yehliu Turtle." Because the rock layer of seashore contains sandstone of limestone texture and it is subject to sea erosion, weathering and earth movements, there is particular scenery consisting of sea trenches/holes, candle shaped rocks, and pot shaped rocks. The place is divided into three sections. The first section has rocks like Queen's Head, Fairy's Shoe and Candle.

One of the items I really wanted to check off from Taipei is visiting Jiufen. Jiufen is a small village in the mountains located 1-hour drive from Taipei. It has been made famous largely due to its similarity to the village in Spirited Away, arguably Hayao Miyazaki’s most popular movie.

Located in the mountain town of Jinguashi (金瓜石) in Ruifang District, New Taipei City. Just a few bus stops beyond Jiufen, this area is rich in historical, cultural, and natural resources. Among these is the Museum of Gold which provides information on the gold mining industry and an insightful look into the life of a miner with a visit to the Benshan Fifth Tunnel (本山五坑). This park happens to be the first museum park in Taiwan to be based on integrated ecological-museum concepts. Further owing to the eco-centered focus of the area, the Environment Education Center offers exhibits on the special environmental and geological characteristics of Jinguashi.
