Bahla Fortress is a medieval citadel in the town of Bahla, on the road to Nazwa, in the lower Jebel Akhdar highlands. It is considered the oldest fortress in Oman. It was built of adobe in the XIII-XIV centuries. It is surrounded by a 12-kilometer wall.
Shems is the highest point in Oman, located in the Al-Akhdar mountain system. It has an elevation of 3018 meters. The mountain is about 30 kilometers north of the city of Bahla. Around the summit is a closed zone, as there is a military radar station on the summit. There is a dirt road leading to it.
You can visit an Omani house for lunch and observe the traditional method of cooking chicken on rocks brought from the valley. Afterwards, you can enjoy a meal with an Omani family consisting of rice, chicken, salad, pita bread, fruits, dessert, coffee, and water.
You can stop by the famous Omani sweet shop to taste the sweet "Halwa" and purchase some souvenirs.
