Hattusa, Hattusas or Hattus is the capital of the ancient Hittite kingdom. The site is located near the modern Turkish village of Boğazkale in central Anatolia near the Kızılırmak River, 145 km east of Ankara. The settlement was discovered in 1834, excavations have been ongoing since 1906.
