Detailed itinerary

1

Santa Maria Salt Flats
It consists of a protected area covering 69 hectares. Santa Maria was founded in 1830 for the production of salt. Up to 30,000 tons of salt were shipped from Santa Maria each year.

2

This is a small village on the island of Sal, once a small fishing village. Nowadays it is a private development that led to the construction of a tourist village by the sea. The village is situated on the west coast, 8 km south of the island's capital Espargos and 10 km north of Santa Maria. Approximately halfway along the island's main highway.

3

Miragem or Fata Morgana de Terra Boa, located about 4 km north of the city of Espargos in the islands, an experience not to be missed on the itinerary. Once, Terra Boa had many greens, nowadays it is an authentic mini-desert of the island with the flat and mountainous landscape to the east and west of Terra Boa. But I think it's best not to tell more and let you experience and experience it for yourself.

4

Every stop on the tour is breathtaking, but the landscape and breeze of the hole and the mystery behind the blue eye around 12:00 pm is bluntly magnificent. In addition, Buracona or Olho Azul, has a cave with a hole where the sea is visible from the surface, called "the love cave". With the consent of the guides (and calm sea) it is even possible to get your feet wet and experience this experience.

5

Port of Palmeira
- Palmeira is located by the sea, having a port and the only port activated on the island since the 1960s with sea highways with other islands, São Nicolau, Boa Vista and indirectly Santiago and São Vicente. On the pier, you can enjoy the daily life of a fishing village and the "morabeza" of the natives.

Lunch
- Depending on your preference, we can stop here for lunch by the sea or just stroll around the city.

6

Viewpoint or Radar for the natives, it is located in the city of Espargos, the island's headquarters. At the highest point of the city we have the viewpoint or radar, where you can see (if visibility allows) most of the island. A magnificent panorama that cannot be missed.

7

Lunch
- If you prefer to have lunch in the city of Espargos, you can stop for lunch at one of the many restaurants in the city.

Stop 8

Salinas de Pedra de Lume, is located by the sea, with a beach nearby with a landscape of remarkable beauty. Nearby, in the crater of an ancient volcano, where sea water infiltrates and then evaporates, are the Pedra de Lume salt pans, whose salt gives the name Ilha do Sal.

In part of the salt flats it is possible to enjoy the waters with a high concentration of salt. This high density of salt prevents humans from sinking, allowing them to float effortlessly.

9

Shark Bay, as it is known by the locals, Baia de Parda. Here you can see (small) lemon sharks. As a way to help the local economy, you can rent shoes for 3.00 euros and receive information from a shark bay guide. But if you don't want to, you can also bring your own shoes to get in the water and I'll be happy to tell you a little more about this stop.
