Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is a sacred place built to keep Ho Chi Minh’s body remained after he passed away so that he can somehow find contentment in seeing Vietnam united. The place so far has had millions of tourists as well as Vietnamese people from every part of the country visiting each year.

The Temple of Literature or Temple of Culture is a Temple of Confucious in Hanoi - hosting the Imperial Academy, Vietnam's first national university. The temple was built in 1070 at the time of Emperor. It is one of several temples in Vietnam which is dedicated to Confucious, sages and scholars.

Vietnam Museum of Ethnology is both a research centre and a public museum exhibiting the ethnic groups of Vietnam. The mission of the Museum is scientific research, collection, documentation, conservation, exhibition and preserving the cultural and historic patrimony of the nation's different ethnic groups. The museum also serves to guide research, conservation, and technology that are specific to the work of an ethnographic museum.

The Tran Quoc Pagoda is the oldest temple in Hanoi and dates back to the 6th century during the reign of Emperor Ly Nam De Dynasty. This makes the temple more than 1500 years old! It is now a symbol of the city and a visit is one of the best things to do in Hanoi.

One Pillar Pagoda (officially known as Dien Huu Pagoda), is named after its extraordinary architecture: The whole construction is built on a single pillar, which is planted in the middle of a lotus pond. The attraction is located in Ba Dinh District, which is very walkable to Ho Chi Minh Complex, including Ba Dinh Square, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, and Ho Chi Minh Museum. The One Pillar Pagoda is believed to exist since the Ly’s dynasty, marking a notable development of Buddhism in Vietnam. This monument is not only a famous tourist attraction but also a religious stop for local pilgrims.

It was a prison in Hanoi originally used by the French colonists in Indochina for political prisoners, and later by North Vietnam for U.S. prisoners of war during the Vietnam War. During this later period, it was known to American POWs as the "Hanoi Hilton". The prison was demolished during the 1990s, although the gatehouse remains as a museum.
