Amberd is the largest standing fortress in Armenia, located on the southern slopes of Mount Aragats.The mansion and some sections of the walls were constructed in the 7th century by the noble house of Kamsarakan. In the 10th century it was rebuilt by Vahram Pahlavuni. The fortress became the military defense center of the Pahlavuni and Bagratuni kingdoms, as well as the summer residence of the rulers.The complex of Amberd is one of the best examples of Armenian fortress construction. The site incorporates a rich variety of buildings inclding: a church, a chapel, baths, walls and several gates.

Lake Kari is located on the slopes of Mount Aragats.Most of its water comes from ice and snow.It is located 3, 185 m above the sea level.

Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory is a modern astronomical center, one of the most famous observatories former Soviet Union.It was founded in 1946 by world famous astrophysicist Viktor Ambartsumian.
