A nature walk with a ranger to visit the white rhinos in Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Rhinos live in small groups in this sanctuary making it safe for visitors to see them. Following the ranger's instruction about safety while there will make this experience a memorable one. There is no hiking in this exercise. It is just a simple walk coupled with explanations from rangers. It is the only place in Uganda where one can see these animals in the wild on foot.
This experience starts with a 2-3 hours’ drive from Kampala to the sanctuary where these animals are kept. When you arrive, you will be briefed about the rhinos, how they came to be in this sanctuary and the safety measures you need to consider while trekking these animals. Starting with only six, the sanctuary now boasts of around 30 rhinos living there. An experienced ranger will lead the way in this nature walk explaining anything you meet on the way related to these rhinos. When you reach the place where they are, the ranger will guide on how to keep a safe distance from the rhinos in a way that you can even take splendid pictures from that vantage point. The trekking experience can take up to one hour enjoying nature and these amazing animals. When the whole experience is over, there is a good restaurant there where you can have your meals and thereafter head back to Kampala.
