Detailed itinerary

1

Begin your full-day private tour early in the morning with a hotel pickup. Your driver will take you to Athens Airport, where you will connect to your flight to Thessaloniki. Your flight to Thessaloniki takes about an hour and the flight tickets are included.

2

Upon arrival at Thessaloniki Airport, an English-speaking driver will transport you in less than 90 minutes to your first destination Vergina, known as Aigai in the past and served as the first capital of the Kingdom of Macedon.

3

You will visit the beautiful village of Vergina, known as Aigai in the past and served as the first capital of the Kingdom of Macedon.
In Vergina, in 1977, the archaeologist Manolis Andronikos oversaw excavations and discovered four burial sites, three of which, in the majority of experts' opinions, belonged to Alexander the Great's father Philip II, one of his wives, and Alexander IV of Macedon. The Museum, the Palace, the city, the Acropolis, and the surrounding territory make up the larger Vergina archaeological site. The Royal Tombs in the historic necropolis of Aigai are the most significant sight.
In the same area as the graves, which have been submerged in mud for so long, is a museum exhibiting the discoveries. The gold larnaca (funeral box) decorated with the star of the Macedonian Dynasty and holding King Philip II's bones and the remains of his golden wreath is the museum's most significant display.

4

Your driver will transport you in less than 45 minutes to the city of Pella in Central Macedonia, where you will have the chance to visit the archaeological site.

5

After this fascinating visit, we will drive you to Thessaloniki airport to board your 1 hour flight to Athens.
