Wat Chalong, officially known as Wat Chaiyathararam, is Phuket's largest and most revered Buddhist temple. Established in the early 19th century, it honors esteemed monks Luang Pho Chaem and Luang Pho Chuang, renowned for aiding locals during the 1876 tin miners' rebellion with their herbal medicine expertise. The temple's centerpiece is a 60-meter-tall chedi housing a fragment of Lord Buddha's bone, adorned with intricate paintings depicting his life. Visitors can explore multiple levels of the chedi, culminating in panoramic views of the temple grounds from the top terrace.

Stop 4

Journey to the summit of Nakkerd Hill to marvel at Phuket’s iconic Big Buddha, a majestic marble statue that stands as a symbol of peace and faith. This colossal monument not only offers a deeply spiritual experience but also serves as one of the island’s most spectacular viewpoints. From here, enjoy breathtaking 360° panoramas of Phuket’s lush hills, glittering bays, and distant beaches—perfect for unforgettable photos.

Important Update:
Please note that the main Big Buddha area remains closed following a landslide in August 2024. For safety reasons, access to the statue’s base and main grounds is temporarily restricted. However, visitors can still drive up to the top of the hill to view the statue’s rear side and take in the sweeping island vistas from a nearby open area, which includes a parking lot and a small snack bar.

It offers panoramic vistas over the town, extending to the southern part of the island and even the iconic Big Buddha statue. The hill features a newly constructed gazebo and viewing platform, enhancing the experience for visitors seeking a scenic spot for relaxation or photography.
