The tower, built in the 2nd century, is located at the southwest corner of the city walls in Karaalioğlu Park. It is 14 m high, square at the bottom and cylindrical at the top. It is thought to have been built by the Roman emperor Hadrianus.
There is a small room downstairs. From here, a staircase leads to the upper floor through a corridor. The tower was used as a lighthouse and watchtower for ships arriving in the bay. Due to the fresco remains on the walls of the lower floor room, it is shown as a hero's tomb by some sources.
