We aim to propose encounters with local farmers on this tour to make your Aso experience unforgettable.
The Aso colored sheep are very much the future of Aso and the strawberry farm offers delicious fresh snacks from new year's till early summer.
In addition, we'll enjoy bringing you to the best local restaurants so you'll be able to savor the Aso grown vegetables and locally produced food.
Depending on the season, the produce and thus the tour's content will vary.
We can customize this tour with different options for lunch, pick-up, and other add-on activities.
Optional:
- We can do the tour bicycling through the caldera, if you are up to some light exercise!
- If you have mobility troubles we can organize the tour by car as well.
Please feel free to ask, we can make the experience complete with accommodation and a special dinner as well.
Pickup included
Rent a bicycle: The tour will be a biking tour, instead of a walking tour.
We'll start the tour by walking (biking) through the caldera. You will be able to discover the particularities of the landscape of Aso, it's history and the wonderful secrets it bears.
*Please let us know if you have any mobility problems, we can also arrange a car for the duration of the tour.
On this tour, our professional guide will take you around to visit local farmers, learn about their lives in Aso, the produce they work with.

Our first visit will include meeting some of the cutest inhabitants of Aso: the Aso Coloured Sheep. They are part of an eco-system project to revive Aso as a whole: including the protection of the historical grasslands of Aso.
Depending on the season, we may meet with newborn lambs, ewes,...
You'll be able to hear the care our shepherd puts in his job and the need for these sheep to populate Aso.
* Please note that depending on your route coming to Japan, we may have to alter the visit slightly as we need to protect the sheep before we can have them meet you, lovely travelers.
We'll have lunch at a lovely restaurant, serving only locally grown produce, fresh vegetables and delicious sweets. Be prepared to enjoy!
Next, we're out for a snack at the local strawberry farm:
You will be able to study the work that is necessary to enjoy these sweet fruits, see the actual strawberry fields on Aso and get a taste of three different types of strawberries that are grown on the farm.
Our plan includes an all-you-can-eat strawberry picking experience, and the visit of the farm.
Our farmers are also always happy to answer your questions and requests, so do not hesitate to ask you guide to translate any questions you may have.
*The experience includes the tour of the farm and strawberry picking, but you may purchase more strawberries to take home, if you want.
Last but not least, you'll be able to enjoy a drink a the best coffee shop in town.

We'll end the tour by walking (biking) you back to our meeting point.

We'll meet right in front of Miyaji JR station, next to the bus terminal.
It is always possible to meet up at Aso JR station too, or to organize a pickup at your most convenient location. Let us know if you need any help concerning the pick up/ meet up.
