Seljalandsfoss is a magnificent waterfall that drops 60 meters down from the cliffs above. What makes this waterfall truly unique is that visitors can walk behind it, experiencing the power of the water and the mist that surrounds them. This makes for an incredible photo opportunity, especially during the winter months when the waterfall is surrounded by snow and ice.

4

Just a short walk from Seljalandsfoss is Gljúfrabúi, a hidden gem tucked away in a narrow canyon. This waterfall is much smaller than Seljalandsfoss, but it is equally impressive in its own right. Visitors must wade through a shallow stream and climb up some rocks to reach the waterfall, which cascades down into a serene pool. The cave-like setting adds to the magical atmosphere of this unique waterfall, making it a favorite among photographers.

Skógafoss is a breathtakingly beautiful waterfall. It is one of the largest waterfalls in the country, with a width of 25 meters and a drop of 60 meters. The waterfall is situated on the Skógá River, which originates from the glacier Eyjafjallajökull. The water cascades down the cliffs in a powerful stream, creating a mist that can be seen from afar. On sunny days, rainbows often form in the mist, adding to the waterfall’s stunning beauty.

The black sand of Reynisfjara is made up of basalt, which was formed by volcanic activity millions of years ago. The beach is framed by towering basalt cliffs, which create a dramatic and otherworldly landscape. The waves crashing against the shore create a mesmerizing sound and add to the natural beauty of the area.

One of the most impressive features of Reynisfjara is the Reynisdrangar sea stacks, which rise up out of the sea just off the shore. Legend has it that these stacks were once trolls who were turned to stone by the rising sun. The stacks provide a stunning backdrop for the beach and are a popular subject for photographers.
