he Northern Kentucky Convention and Visitor's Bureau commissioned noted Greek sculptor Eleftherios Karkadoulias to do the piece. Using his daughter as a model, he worked over one and a half years and cast the Goose Girl using the "lost wax" method. The fountain was erected and unveiled in October of 1980. The Goose Girl fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm was the inspiration for the theme, representative of the culture of the area.
George Steinford Park, also known as the Sixth Street Promenade, is a wide promenade separating West 6th Street that serves as the heart of outdoor activity in MainStrasse Village. The lush tree canopy and liveliness from the adjacent restaurant and retail establishments provide an exciting and picturesque environment to host events and is a great place for individuals to stroll with friends or walk their dogs.
Cock & Bull is a beloved stop on our Mainstrasse Food Tour. Guests can choose a 5 0unce poor from a variety of local beers on tap and indulge in a German style pretzel with a beer cheese dip!
Goebel Park is best known for it's iconic German-style Carroll Chimes Clock Tower. Architect Addison Clipson was commissioned to design the tower and worked with partner Bill Batson. Completed in 1979, the tower was named in honor of then Governor of Kentucky, Julian Carroll.
Weather permitting, a stop at Piper's Ice cream stand is a must. Piper's features a whopping selection of over 80 flavors and 100,000 unique blends of soft serve treats made from traditional lactose-free soft serve recipe.
