This emblematic place is located in the protected natural area of the Betancuria Rural Park. Although the ravine of Las Peñitas extends from the city of Betancuria to the head of the ravine of Mal Paso, it is commonly known as "Las Peñitas" in relation to the section that is located just after the construction of the dam of the same name in 1937.
In and around the village, the money is mainly earned through agriculture and cattle breeding. For example, tomatoes are grown here and Tuineje is one of the places where goat meat and cheese comes from. The delicious tomatoes from Tuineje are known for their subtle taste.
