The Aynu people are an indigenous group who have primarily lived in areas centered around Hokkaido, with many once residing in the Furano-Biei region. Kamifurano Town is home to the Tokachidake Mountain Range, where volcanic activity continues to this day.
On this tour, you will immerse yourself in Aynu culture alongside Keiichiro Yoshimura and Kozue Monbetsu, who have Aynu heritage and live locally. You will also have the opportunity to experience the stunning natural landscapes of Furano and Kamifurano.
Following the traditional Aynu practice of utilizing mountains as essential sources of food and materials, you will hike to a volcanic crater. Additionally, you will take part in authentic Aynu rituals at the home of your Aynu guides—an exclusive experience available only here.
Furthermore, you will visit a special exhibition museum, where you can directly touch traditional Aynu artifacts that have been used by the Aynu people themselves.
