Stop 2

Your walking tour will begin outside the Christ Church Cathedral, which is one of the 2 medieval cathedrals in town. Admire its beautiful Gothic-Romanesque facade and learn about the most important events in its over 1,000 years history. Enjoy the cathedral’s architectural splendor and spiritual atmosphere, and discover its various monuments and historical features such as the oldest known secular carvings in Ireland, the heart of Lorcán Ua Tuathail, and the mummified cat and the rat in the crypt.

Next, you will head to St. Audeon’s Church, which is the oldest parish church in Dublin. A visit inside will transfer you back in time to the Middle Ages, and you will discover the role that the church played in the Irish Confederate Wars.

Another highlight will be St. Patrick's Cathedral, the national cathedral of Ireland. Wander around the adjacent St. Patrick’s Park and hear the story of the baptism of the first Catholics in Ireland by St. Patrick. The guide will also take you to a lesser known church on Whitefriar Street.
