Your walking tour will begin outside the Christ Church Cathedral, which is one of the 2 medieval cathedrals in town. Admire its beautiful Gothic-Romanesque facade and learn about the most important events in its over 1,000 years history. Enjoy the cathedral’s architectural splendor and spiritual atmosphere, and discover its various monuments and historical features such as the oldest known secular carvings in Ireland, the heart of Lorcán Ua Tuathail, and the mummified cat and the rat in the crypt.
Next, you will head to St. Audeon’s Church, which is the oldest parish church in Dublin. A visit inside will transfer you back in time to the Middle Ages, and you will discover the role that the church played in the Irish Confederate Wars.
Another highlight will be St. Patrick's Cathedral, the national cathedral of Ireland. Wander around the adjacent St. Patrick’s Park and hear the story of the baptism of the first Catholics in Ireland by St. Patrick. The guide will also take you to a lesser known church on Whitefriar Street.
Inside this beautiful 19th century building by George Papworth you will find relics of Saint Valentine and Saint Albert. It’s a treasure trove of Irish history and culture with numerous monuments, memorials and chivalric chapels. • Guided tours inside the churches during mass and special events are limited. If entry is not possible, the guide will provide all information outside.
• The Church of St. Audoen is open to the public daily from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM from April to October. In winter, you will only see it from the outside.
• Skip-the-line tickets to Christ Church Cathedral allow you to get in faster without queuing at the ticket office. Admission excludes the Bell Tower.
• Skip-the-line tickets to St. Patrick’s Cathedral are reserved for a specific time slot, so it's important to arrive on time. You will save time by skipping the line at the ticket office. Church tours during mass and scheduled events are limited. Admission excludes the Bell Tower.
• 2-hour tour: For the convenience of all guests, it is best to have 1 licensed guide per maximum of 25 guests, so that all guests can get the best experience, ask questions and hear the guide well. The price will be higher if you need more than 1 guide.
• 3- and 4-hour tours: due to the cathedral's rules, 1 licensed guide can lead a group of 1-20 people, so the price of the tour will be higher if you need more than 1 guide.
