The church is surrounded by the ruins of Roman walls and towers, a reminder of the city’s origin as a Roman colony called Barcino. As you admire the Cathedral’s stunning facade and surroundings, the guide will tell you the story of Saint Eulalia, the patron saint of the city of Barcelona who was tortured by the Romans. As you will learn, many elements in the cathedral are dedicated to this Christian martyr. During the tour you will explore the grand nave with its 40 chapels, embellished with Gothic altarpieces by renowned Catalan artists. You will also visit the cathedral museum and the beautiful cloister where 13 ducks are kept. Skip-the-line tickets to Barcelona Cathedral include access to the terrace, so you can take a closer look at the gargoyles on the roof and marvel at the amazing view of the surrounding area.
