The Royal Palace, also known as Dar el-Makhzen was built on the site of the Almohad kasbah, by the Almohads in the 12th.

It took French painter Jacques Majorelle (1886-1962) forty years of passion and dedication to create this enchanting garden in the heart of the “Red City”. The garden and villa were rediscovered in the 1980s, by fashion designers, Yves Saint-Laurent and Pierre Bergé who set about restoring it and saving it.

Commissioned by Ali Ben Yousef back in 1126. The medina’s walls are over 9 metres high, 2 metres thick and are about 19 kilometres in length.
They once provided protection for the inhabitants of the city and up until the early 20th century, the gates were all securely closed at night.

Bab Agnaou is one of the nineteen gates of Marrakesh. It was built in the 12th century in the time of the Almohad dynasty and gives entrance to the royal kasbah in the southern part of the medina.

Koutoubia Mosque is the largest mosque and one of the most beautiful sites in Marrakesh. It was completed under the reign of the Berber Almohad Caliph Yaqub al-Mansur (1184 to 1199), and inspired other buildings such as the Giralda of Seville and the Hassan Tower of Rabat.

The Saadian Tombs are a historic royal necropolis in Marrakesh, Morocco, located on the south side of the Kasbah Mosque, inside the royal kasbah (citadel) district of the city. They date to the time of the Saadian dynasty and in particular to the reign of Ahmad al-Mansur (1578–1603).
