Ananuri was a strong fortress of the feudal lords of Aragvi. The nobility of Aragvi was already established in the 14th century. The weakening of the central government led to the strengthening of individual feudal lords. The people of Rugby became especially active in the 17th century and the first half of the 18th century. The architectural complex of Ananuri was historically a very important and strategic point. Currently, it is one of the best preserved historical and cultural monuments.
