About this experience

This private one-day tour offers you an opportunity to explore Pingyao Ancient City, a World Heritage Site, and the Qiao Family Compound from Taiyuan with a local guide by private vehicle. You could be fully exposed to the fantastic history of 200 years old Pinyao. Pickup time from your centrally located Taiyuan hotel is at 8am.

Detailed itinerary

At 8am, your guide will pick you up from your Taiyuan hotel, then take 1-hour car ride to Qiao Family Courtyard. It was started to build in 1756AD by the local rich Qiao family. There are well-designed layout, the nice carvings, and all sorts of antiques in the compound that are interesting to explore.

Then you will take another one-hour car ride to Pingyao. Pingyao was inducted as an World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997, and renown for its layout which is conforming to a typical bagua pattern that can be dated back to Ming and Qing dynasties. There are more than 300 sites of ancient ruins in or near the city, the streets and storefronts still remain in their historical appearance.
Pingyao used to be the financial center of China in late Qing Dynasty. You could wander around Old City Wall of Pingyao, Confucius Temple, Rishenchang Bank Institute, Yamun and etc..
Later, you will be transferred back to your Taiyuan hotel where the tour concludes.
